Dalai Lama in Woodstock, NY- World Peace Day - September 21, 2006
What a day this was! I took a friend that was visiting from Arizona to Woodstock. When we arrived we discovered the Dalai Lama was giving an unannounced public talk in the park that afternoon!?! What luck to fall into the stream of the Dalai Lama. His message was clear and simple, we are all here together, we all want the same thing, happiness. How do we achieve this? By looking within ourselves. Additionally he spoke of money and possessions not bring happiness, he asked us to question how we measure success - is money and power success? Does it actually bring security or happiness? I have seen the Dalai Lama before on scheduled announced events, this was much more profound and moving. He spoke for one hour without a script or notes. He spoke to a crowd of between 2 and 3 thousand people in the park, all arriving because of word of mouth.
